Course Offerings:
Each of these programs has a number of courses depending upon their nature and duration.
All courses follow a logical sequence. The sequences of the courses are (i) fundamental courses (ii) core courses (iii) major courses and (iv) internship assignment. At the very outset, students are to take foundation courses. Through these courses undergraduates expand their social, cultural and scientific perspectives, improve critical and analytical thinking, and learn skills in finding, managing and communicating knowledge. Next comes the core courses. Here the students are exposed to the various aspects of their discipline from the basics to the manageable details. Having completed the core courses, students meet the requirements for enrolling into the concentration or major courses which prepare the students for career in the chosen area of specialization. Finally, students complete the Internship assignment to gain practical work experience, or do research project as may be required. |
Course load:
A full time student shall have to complete 4 courses of 3 credits in a semester i.e 12 credits per semester. For students in Computer Science and Information Technology and Computer Science & Engineering total credit per semester may go up to fifteen or more with lab credits. However, a student can enroll for more or less number of courses with necessary permission. An undergraduate student can graduate with the minimum requirement in four years with regular load in each semester each year.
Course Sequence:
All course sequences must be maintained including English language requirements for the undergraduate programs. A student must pass the prerequisite courses in order to register into higher-level courses required for a preferred degree. A student must fulfill English requirements by the fourth semester after admission. Failing this, the student will not be allowed to register into other courses until the English requirement is fulfilled.
Major Concentration:
Departments and Programs offer major concentration areas. Students must take the courses that are specifically required for major concentration within a degree.
Dual Major:
There is also provision for dual major in BUBT. A student has to fulfill the requirements of two major concentration areas for obtaining a dual major.
Research:
Students may be allowed to undertake a semester-long research under the supervision of faculty and must earn a minimum of C grade for graduation.
Internship Requirement:
Students registering for internship should preferably have completed all course work. Students may not be registered into any course during internship. The Chair of the concerned Department may authorize exceptions to this rule. For purposes of fulfilling degree requirements, students should be interned in organizations for ten weeks allowing two to four weeks for writing reports, etc. The students must earn at least a C grade in the internship project.
