The Self-Assessment Committee of Economics Department has arranged a workshop on How to be a Good Researcher in the Field of Economics at 4th December, 2018 at the permanent campus. The workshop was chaired by the Chairman of Economics Department. The keynote speaker was Mohammad Amzad Hossain, Chairman and Professor, Department of Economics, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka. There were four technical sessions in that workshop. In technical session one Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics discussed the issues related to the present scenario of the research works by the faculty members of Economics Department. In technical session two Professor Mohammad Amzad Hossain discussed about the research methodologies of social sciences. Technical session three was conducted by Professor Mohammad Amzad Hossain about the present trend of applied research where he showed that how the research trend has been changed in case of Economics. In finally session Professor Mohammad Amzad Hossain analyzed the way of disseminating the research result for the policy purposes. He also added some suggestions about publishing articles in good journals. He also recommended that such type of workshop should be conducted in a regular basis

The workshop was chaired by the Chairman of Economics Department. The keynote speaker was S. M. Abul Hasnat, Senior Executive, Corporate Sales, bdjobs.com ltd. There were four technical sessions in that workshop. Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics discussed the issues related to the career opportunities of Economics graduates in technical session one. In technical session two Mr. S. M Abul Hasnat discussed the way and steps of preparing a good and attractive CV for having a good impression in application process. Technical session three was conducted by Mr. S. M. Abul Hasnat about Interview and Presentation Skills Development for achieving career goal. Finally Mr. Tareq Imam Zahid conducted last session on the ‘Career Directions and Guidance from the Economics Department ‘. After each of the technical session there was question answering part. The students express their gratitude to participate such a workshop and they urged to have such workshops frequently.

The SA-Committee of Economics Department of BUBT had organized its sixth workshop on Post EPR-Draft Improvement Plan at 25th November, 2018 in the permanent campus of BUBT. At this workshop the Chief Guest was Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT. The special guests were Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer, BUBT, Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Academic Advisor, Student Affairs, BUBT, Prof. Shanti Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC-BUBT and Director, BUBT Research Centre and Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, BUBT. Dr. Mohammed Ziaul Haider,Professor, Department of Economics, Khulna University was the key discussant of the workshop. All the guests expressed their views on the Draft Improvement Plan of SAC-Economics, BUBT.
The keynote was jointly presented by the members of SAC-Economics, BUBT in three consecutive technical sessions. The second member of SAC-Economics Mr. Tareq Imam Zahid, lecturer in Economics had presented the main targets and possible interventions of nine quality assessment areas in technical session one. The first member of SAC-Economics Mahmuda Jahan Papia, Assistant Professor of Economics had presented the possible financial requirements and performance indicators about the future improvement of the department. In technical session three the Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head of the SAC-Economics had presented the possible roadblocks and how to overcome such roadblocks in nine QA areas. The discussant provided necessary suggestions and recommendations for further improvement. The workshop was presided over by Sirajul Islam, Chairman of Economics, BUBT.

The SA committee of Department of Economics has organized a two days workshop on ‘The Future of Economics Department Based on the Four Years’ Improvement Plan’ on 01-12-18 and 02-12-18 consecutively. The first day was considered as round one with three technical sessions. The first technical session was on ‘The Scopes of Economics Club for Student Development and Community Services’ conducted by Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics, BUBT. The participants and discussant interacted each other to establish a club in Economics department to create various facilities for the students. Second technical session was conducted by the first member of SAC-Economics, Ms. Mahmuda Jahan Papia, which was on ‘The Prospects of Economics Alumni Association’. Where the importance of having an alumni association was discussed. The third session was on collecting feedbacks about academic issues from the various stakeholders’ of the department which was conducted by Mr. Tareq Imam Zahid, second member of SAC-Economics. The Second round was also with three technical sessions: The Ways of Formation of Economics Club and Economics Alumni Association, Introducing the Concept of ILOs among the Students and Community Services, and Making the Students Familiar with Pedagogy Approach. The key note speakers were the three members of the SAC-Economics, BUBT.
Seminar on 07th May 2018
The Department of Economics, (BUBT), is gonging to organize a seminar on “Moving Out of the LDCs: Strategies for Sustainable Graduation” on 7th May, 2018 in the conference room of BUBT from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. The chief guest & keynote speaker of the seminar is Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, CPD.The Special Guest and the session chair are Prof. Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust and Prof. Md Abu Saleh ,Vice Chancellor, BUBT respectively. All faculty members and some selected students of BUBT will attend the seminar.
