Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) is one of the top ranking universities in Bangladesh, established in 2003 under private university act 1992 as amended in 1998 with the approval of Ministry of Education. It has academic collaboration and credit transfer facilities with a number of foreign Universities. BUBT is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, a member of the Association of International Universities and also a member of the Association of Management Development Institution in South Asia.
From the very beginning of inception, BUBT has been considered as an advanced private university in Bangladesh which avails with cutting age education facilities and follows sternly with the Washing Accord (USA) academic standards. All faculty members of this university are graduates of reputed public universities of Bangladesh as well as around the globe, especially from USA, Canada, UK, Japan and Australia. At present, twelve glorious departments of BUBT under five Faculties, such as Business, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Law are running twenty programs (excluding evening programs).
Recently, BUBT inaugurate the grand opening of the Department of Civil Engineering to strengthen the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The Department offers the degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (B.Sc. in CE). It has five major branches of Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Water Resources Engineering. These divisions offer mainly core and advanced optional engineering courses. In that effort, the department introduced a high quality curriculum for the ambitious students which include mathematics, basic sciences courses, humanities and other five specialized engineering courses in the field or civil engineering to produce globally competent and well-shaped Civil Engineers. The principal goals of the Department of Civil Engineering are to disseminate knowledge, gain professional skills and innovate through education, professional training and research in the interdisciplinary areas of the program that invokes challenges of contributing to economic and social growth by creating sustainable structures and built environment in the nation and the rest of the world as well.
