M.A. in English Language Teaching (ELT) Program aims at offering advanced courses for those already involved or to be involved in English Language education for a comprehensive understanding of the areas of applied
linguistics which have a bearing on the field. Students (considered participants/trainees here) are also
required to complete a research dissertation on a topic relevant to language education. That is, the
program explores current issues, practices and research methods in ELT and gives trainee teachers the
opportunity to acquire competence and practicing teachers to deepen their understanding of the
theoretical and practical issues that impact on the classroom. In addition, it gives them the tools to
undertake research in a specific area of interest and further their own professional development.
Though there are courses of theory and research, this program is practical and relevant to the ELT
classroom today, and is designed to enhance students' professional standing and career prospects in
English Language teaching and related fields of work.
