IQAC-BUBT recently hosted an External Quality Assessment (EQA) team from the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) from April 20 to 22, 2025, as part of the accreditation process for its Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) program in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).
The External Quality Assessment (EQA) team comprises distinguished academic professionals. The team is headed by Professor Dr. M. Abul Kashem, Vice Chancellor of Teesta University, Rangpur. The Quality Assessment member is Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, who currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Technology and is also a Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering at BUET. The Subject Expert member is Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Goffar Khan, Professor (PRL) from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at RUET.
The EQA team’s visit, organized under the guidance of BAC, focused on evaluating the academic standards and institutional effectiveness of the EEE program. During the visit, the team engaged in thorough discussions with key stakeholders, including members of the university leadership, faculty, students, alumni, and representatives from the employer community.
The External Quality Assessment visit was coordinated by BUBT’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC-BUBT) and the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) of the EEE Department. Leading the coordination efforts were Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of IQAC, Mr. Zaved Mannan, Additional Director of IQAC, and Dr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Associate Professor and Chairman of the EEE Department and Head of the PSAC.
Throughout the three-day visit, the EQA team carried out a comprehensive set of activities, including classroom observations, detailed document reviews, and meetings with faculty members, administrative officers, non-academic staff, the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and other senior officials.
The evaluation also featured guided tours of departmental laboratories, the EEE Department offices, the Office of the Controller of Examinations, and other key campus facilities such as the library, medical center, gymnasium, cafeteria, and co-curricular activity spaces. In addition, dedicated sessions were conducted with students, alumni, and employers to collect holistic feedback on the program’s outcomes and impact.
The visit concluded with an Exit Meeting on April 22, during which the EQA team shared their preliminary observations and reflections with the university’s senior leadership. Present at the meeting were Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC); Dr. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar; Prof. Dr. Ali Ahmed, Treasurer; Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of IQAC; Mr. Zaved Mannan, Additional Director of IQAC; PSAC members; PSAC and members of the EQA team.
This successful site visit represents a significant milestone in BUBT’s ongoing commitment to achieving academic excellence and aligning with international accreditation standards.
