Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) family observed Martyred Day and the International Mother Language Day with Provatferi (Procession in the Morning), Tribute at the BUBT’s Shahid Minar, discussion and cultural sessions. The discussion was organized on February 21 at the Hall room of BUBT permanent campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, where Ekushey Podoklaureate writer Professor Dr. Syed Manzurl Islam was the Chief Guest. He Said, Language Movement in 1952 was a drive against the colonialism of West Pakistan. To honor that movement and the martyrs, we should uphold the spirit of that time. To become a part of the great nation we should alive our language.He also emphasized on the practicing of our colloquial languages but we must practice a standard language at the public which is generally called as ‘Promit Bangla’.
The Program was presided over by Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT. He described the history of the Mother Language Movement. He urged audience to prevent distortion of the Bengali language. As the Special Guests Mr. A F M Sarwar Kamal, former Chairman, BUBT Trust and Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities spoke at the program. Also was present:Members of BUBT Trust, Deans of Faculties, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Directors, Joint Registrar, Chairmen of departments, Proctor, Medical Officer, teacher, officials and students. Md. Sabbir Ahmad, Assistant Professor of English anchored the session.
Earlier on February 20, the Social Welfare Club of BUBT and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Jointly Organized a Blood Donation Camp on the occasion. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Dr. A.K. M. Zafrullah Siddiq, MBBS, FCPS inaugurated the camp and he said that it is really appreciativeto donatingblood as asocial work. We may be inspired by this kind of camp to become more social.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Md. Abu Saleh had spoken at the camp before he visited the blood donation activities; Assistant Professor of English Kazi Abu Bakar Siddique coordinated the program while Assistant proctor Md. Abdullah Al Azad anchored it.
Ms. Tahmina Azam, Member of BUBT Trust and Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar also addressed the audience. The DU Branch of the Blood donation leader ‘Bandhan’ took part in the camp. Many students, teachers, officials and staffs voluntarily donated their blood. A competition of Dealika (wallpapers) making also was arranged by the BUBT Cultural Club on the occasion. Distinguished Guests visited the exhibition to see the colorful Dealikas. Mr. Md. Alamgir Kabir, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE coordinated the competition as the moderator of the club.
