Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) debate team became a runner-up in the UCB Public Parliament Debate Competition, organized by the Debate for Democracy. The final round of the competition was held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Auditorium of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). At the end of the competition, Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, MP, Foreign Minister, Govt. of Bangladesh and Mr. Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, Chairman, Debate for Democracy handed over Trophy and Prize Money among the debaters. At this time, honorable Foreign Minister stated that the government of Bangladesh is trying to resolve the Rohinga issue in a peaceful way with the help of the regional and international powers.
Tanzila Ahmad Pinky 36th intake student of CSE was awarded as the best debater of the competition. The other team members are Srimoti Kertonia, 39th intake student, English, Samima Nasrin Santa, 25th intake student, Law, Shanto Roy Papel and Hafizur Rahman Sujon, 35th intake students, CSE.
Students, teachers and officials of BUBT along with Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business and Mr. Md. Sabbir Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Dept. of English and Moderator of BUBT Debating Club were present as the audience. The Debaters immolated the trophy to the BUBT’s Vice Chancellor Professor Md. Abu Saleh.
32 universities participated in the debate competition since last October 2018. The 2nd runner up team was Eastern University and the winner Bangladesh University.
