BUBT Economics Club has organized a webinar titled “A talk About Budget and A Brief Observation on Bangladesh Budget 2021-22"  on 16th September,2021.

Chief guest, Prof. Dr. Sayed Masud Husain, Special guest, Sirajul Islam, Assistant Professor and Chairman  & Mahmuda Jahan Papia, Assistant Professor, Department of economics & Assistant Proctor, BUBT, Keynote speaker, Md. Mahmudul Hassan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics & Moderator ,BUBT Economics Club, Md. Aminul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics & Advisor BUBT Economics Club was the session of chair.

All the faculty members & students of Department of Economics were present in the program. The FY22 budget was based on a number of emerging signs in the economy. Keynote speaker said that the national budget for FY22 has been announced at a time when the country is going through the second wave of the pandemic. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Bangladesh in March 2020, the economy has been facing the most challenging period ever in the history of Bangladesh. Despite challenges the economy has been able to maintain some stability and experienced some positive trends in FY21. Deficit in revenue mobilisation, weaknesses in government expenditure, low implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP), subdued industrial production, gradual pressure on food inflation and low credit flow to the private sector are worrying signs. Dr Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business and of Social Sciences also spoke as chief guest he said that CPD has examined the context and assumptions informing the budget, fiscal budgetary framework, fiscal space and resource mobilisation targets, resource allocation, deficit financing and budget implementation challenges in view of the objectives. Sirajul Islam, Assistant Professor & Chairman, Department of Economics delivered the welcome speech & gave a vote of thanks. The webinar was organized by BUBT Economics Club
