BUBT Holds Freshers’ Reception Ceremony for spring 2026

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) held the Freshers’ Reception Ceremony for spring 2026 today, Thursday, January 15, 2026, to welcome newly admitted students. The program was organized at the university’s Sports Complex, where the spontaneous presence of students, teachers, guardians, and senior administrative officials turned the entire campus into a festive atmosphere. 

The program was graced by Khaled Mashud Pilot, former captain and cricketer of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, as the Chief Guest. Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chairman of the BUBT Trust and Advisor of BUBT, was present as the Special Guest. The ceremony was chaired by the Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUBT, Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali.

The freshers’ reception ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Books. Later, Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar of BUBT, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by important guideline-oriented speeches for the newly admitted students by the University Proctor and the Deans of different faculties.

In his speech, the Chief Guest Khaled Mashud Pilot said, “To achieve success in life, there is no alternative to discipline, perseverance, and self-confidence. Along with academic studies, involvement in sports and co-curricular activities helps students become mentally stronger.” He also urged students to play responsible roles from their respective positions for the welfare of the country and society.

In his speech, Special Guest Professor Md. Abu Saleh said, “University life is the most important period for shaping a student’s future. If this time is utilized properly, a student can develop into a competent and self-reliant individual.”

In his presidential speech, Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali said, “BUBT is committed to preparing its students as global citizens through world-class education and values, and he warmly welcomed the newly admitted students and their guardians to the university campus & he also called upon the new students to concentrate on their studies with dedication and honesty. 

After the prayer and lunch break in the afternoon, the day-long freshers’ reception ceremony concluded with an enjoyable cultural program in the evening. Through this, the formal beginning of university life for the newly admitted students of the spring 2026 semester was marked.
