The Department of English arranges a Seminar on Shakespeare

Department of English arranged a seminar on the occasion of the 400th death anniversary of William Shakespeare on March 31, 2016, at the permanent campus of BUBT. The seminar was titled ‘Shakespeare: Our Contemporary’. The renowned scholar, Professor Dr. Syed Manzoorul Islam, was the keynote speaker. In his speech, he pointed out the universal quality of Shakespeare’s writings and discussed the reasons for his popularity till the present time. AFM Sarwar Kamal, Chairman, BUBT Trustee Board, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, member, Trustee Board, and Professor Mian Lutfar Rahman, member, BUBT Trust, were also present as special guests.

Professor Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Mohoshin Reza, Assistant Professor and Chairman of Department of English, Assistant Professors Mushfeka Deeba, Amanee Khandker, Farhana Bhuiya, Mst. Dilruba, and Jakiya Sultana delivered their speeches on different aspects of Shakespeare’s writings. Later, the students of the Department of English performed a well-known play of Shakespeare, ‘The Merchant of Venice’. The faculty members and students of the department, along with the journalists from the print and electronic media, were present at the event.
