Professional Summary

Md. Mahmudul Hassan, Ph.D. is a Professor and Chairman in the Department of Economics at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from Jahangirnagar University in 2019. Earlier, he completed his M.Sc. in Economics and B.Sc. in Economics at the same university, building a strong academic foundation in economics. His Ph.D. work covered analyzing efficiency of poultry farms in Bangladesh which is mainly a branch of Agricultural Economics. Mr. Hassan then joined BUBT as a Lecturer, progressed to Assistant Professor, and served as Associate Professor. Since 1 January 2026, he has been serving as Professor. With more than 15 years of academic experience, he has developed a strong record of teaching, research, and scholarly engagement. He has a significant number of scholarly publications in domestic (such as Bangladesh Development Studies) and international journals. Professionally, he has served as a Trainer at the National Academy for Development for entry-level BCS (Administration) Cadre Officers, including the “5th Development Administration” training session. He is a member of the Bangladesh Economic Association and has supported student engagement through the BUBT Economics Club as Moderator and later Chief Moderator since July 2025. His commitment to research strengthens his teaching and drives his interest in fiscal policy and institutional development.
