Tahmina Akter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). She has served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Stamford University Bangladesh, Dhaka (2015–2017), and as a Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at Leading University, Sylhet (2013–2015). She joined Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) in January 2024, returning to academia after a six-year career break dedicated to caring for her children. Through these roles, she has contributed to academic instruction, curriculum delivery, and student mentoring, while actively engaging in research and scholarly activities. She completed her Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Economics from the University of Dhaka, following an outstanding academic record that includes Golden GPA 5.00 in both SSC and HSC examinations in the Humanities group. Notably, she was one of only two students to achieve a Golden GPA 5.00 from the Humanities group in the SSC examination in 2005 in the entire Bangladesh. She also secured the second position in the University of Dhaka admission test in both the B and D groups in 2008, demonstrating exceptional academic merit and competitive excellence.
