Mst. Amina Khatun is an accomplished academic in Sociology with a strong record of teaching, research, and excellence. She completed SSC (Science) and HSC (Humanities) from Barisal Board with GPA 5.00 in both, earning Board Scholarships. She earned her Bachelor (Honours) and MSS in Sociology from the University of Dhaka with CGPAs of 3.57 and 3.60. She began her career as a Lecturer at AUST in November 2016, then joined BUBT as a Lecturer in February 2017. Due to her dedication, she was promoted to Assistant Professor in August 2022, a position she holds today. Her research interests include Economic Sociology, Work-Family Conflict, Mental Health, Urban Studies, Gender and Development, Remittances, Poverty Alleviation, and Socio-Economic Development. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the International Journal of Trade and Commerce, South Asian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, The Journal of Social, Political and Economic Studies, International Journal of Asian Social Science, Journal of Economics and Development Studies, International Journal of Science and Business, and the BUBT Journal. She has completed professional training in intensive research methodology and has supervised many undergraduate theses. She has received Merit Scholarships from the Sultana Ahmed Kamal Trust Foundation and the Maitree Foundation. She was honored with the Best Research Award at BUBT Research Week 2026 for her outstanding contributions to high-quality research publications in internationally recognized journals.
