Professional Summary
Dr. Md. Rajibul Islam is a distinguished researcher and academic with a strong interdisciplinary background in computer applications and photonics engineering. He earned his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India, in 2004, followed by a Master of Science in Information Technology (Biometric Image Processing) from Multimedia University, Malaysia, in 2010. Dr. Islam began his professional journey as a Research Assistant and Software Engineer at various university research institutes and R&D divisions within Malaysian software firms. In 2014, he returned to academia to pursue a Ph.D. in Physics (Photonics Engineering) at the Photonics Research Centre, University of Malaya, which he completed in 2017. He recently completed a research fellowship at the Photonics Research Institute of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has since returned to his position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). Earlier in his academic career, Dr. Islam also served as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). He was a Visiting Ph.D. Researcher at the University of Limerick, Ireland, through the Erasmus Mundus – INTACT scholarship program. His research interests span machine learning, artificial intelligence, data mining, optical fiber sensors, and photonic devices. With approximately 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications, as well as several books and book chapters, Dr. Islam is a highly active contributor to the global scientific community. He also serves as a reviewer for numerous international journals and participates regularly in the scientific committees of international conferences.
