Ashifur Rahman is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), Bangladesh. He holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and is currently pursuing an M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering at the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Bangladesh. From the early stages of his academic career, he has been actively involved in research, developing a strong interest in computer vision, deep learning, and applied artificial intelligence. Previously, he worked as a Research Assistant at the RIoT Research Center, Independent University, Bangladesh, from September 2022 to July 2024. During this period, he contributed to research on AI-based cancer diagnosis, mental health analysis, and water quality profiling through data-driven and machine learning approaches. His current research focuses on advanced deep learning architectures, including vision transformers and vision–language models, particularly for medical image analysis and medical visual question answering systems. To date, Mr. Rahman has authored and co-authored 15 journal articles, including 11 published in Q1-ranked journals, and over 20 international conference papers with reputable publishers such as IEEE, Springer Nature, and Elsevier. As a faculty member, he teaches undergraduate courses including Data Mining, Neural Networks, Internet of Things (IoT), Distributed Database Management Systems, and introductory computer science courses, while actively supervising student projects and promoting a research-oriented academic environment. His research interests include Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Explainable AI (X-AI), Vision–Language Models (VLMs), and AI applications in healthcare and environmental intelligence.
