Department Overview

The Department of Data Science & Engineering (DSE) at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) is a forward-looking academic unit dedicated to developing skilled professionals who can transform data into knowledge, innovation, and intelligent solutions. Chairman's Message

Welcome to the Department of Data Science and Engineering (DSE) at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT).

We are living in a transformative era where data has become a cornerstone of decision-making, innovation, and societal progress. Across industries and institutions, data-driven approaches are reshaping how we understand challenges and design solutions, from business optimization to healthcare advancement, environmental sustainability, and effective governance. At DSE, we embrace this responsibility and opportunity with purpose and vision.

As chairman of the department, my commitment is to ensure that our students receive an education that is both intellectually rigorous and practically relevant. Our programs are designed to develop strong foundations in statistics, computer science, and modern data technologies, while also fostering adaptability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.     The Big Data & Cloud Computing Facility provides students with practical exposure to large-scale data processing and cloud-based infrastructures. The facility supports learning and experimentation with distributed computing frameworks, cloud platforms, and data storage systems. It enables students to design, deploy, and manage scalable data solutions, preparing them for modern data engineering and cloud-driven industry environments.

    Data Visualization & Decision Support Facility

    The Data Visualization & Decision Support Facility focuses on transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights for strategic decision-making. Equipped with modern visualization tools and interactive dashboards, this facility helps students develop skills in data storytelling, business intelligence, and analytical reporting. It supports academic projects, research activities, and real-world case studies where data-driven decisions are essential.

    Specialized Computing Laboratories

    The department maintains well-equipped computer laboratories with high-performance workstations and updated software tools for data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical computing, and big data processing. These labs enable students to gain practical experience with real-world datasets and industry-relevant technologies.
