BUBT Research Week 2026, organized by BUBT Research Graduate School at the Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), highlighted the university’s vibrant research culture. Throughout the week, faculty members, researchers and students participated in various research based activities, including faculty-wise research
presentations, poster exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops, and the Student Research Idea Competition.

On the closing day of the week long Research Week, held from January 25 to 29, the Closing and Award Giving Ceremony took place.The chief guest of the ceremony was Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, honorable Adviser of BUBT. During the event, the chief guest recognized and honored the outstanding contributions of faculty, researchers, research assistants and students in research, publications and innovation. The organizing committee expressed their hope that these recognitions would further enrich BUBT’s research culture. 

In recognition of high quality research publications, the High Impact Factor Publication Award was presented to Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Associate Professor, Department of Data Science & Engineering. His research paper was published in the Artificial Intelligence Review journal, which has an Impact Factor of 13.9 and a 5-Year Impact Factor of 14.9, marking a significant international achievement.

For continuous impact and international recognition in research, the Top Research Citation Award was awarded to Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur, Professor and Chairman, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In 2025 alone, he received a total of 506 citations, earning him this prestigious award. Additionally, he received the Top Research Contributor
Award for his overall research contributions, having published a total of 31 research papers under BUBT affiliation in 2025.

During the closing ceremony, a total of 36 awards were presented under the Annual Research Awards. Among them, 18 faculty members received the Research Award, 14 faculty members received the Research Excellence Award, and 4 faculty members received the Outstanding Research Award for research published in internationally recognized journals. 

Faculty members from various departments were recognized under the Research Awards category. Awardees include Md. Masudul Islam, Umme Muslima, Dr. Md. Abdul Hye, Md. Mahbub-Or-Rashid, Md. Shahidul Islam, Mst. Amina Khatun, Abdullah Al Mahmud Nafiz, Shefayatuj Johara Chowdhury, Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Mizanur Rahman, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Mansur, and Md. Sabbir Hasan Sohag.

For recognition of high-quality and impactful research, the Research Excellence Awards were presented to Md. Masudul Islam, Dr. Md. Abdul Hye, Shimanto Saha, Md. Yousuf Ali, Hasibul Hossain Shajeeb, Dr. Md. Shamsul Arefin, Ashifur Rahman, Md. Rezwan Ahmed, Shamim Ahmed, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Nasirul Mumenin.

For particularly notable research, the Outstanding Research Awards were presented to Umme Muslima, Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Shamim Ahmed, and Muhammad Mahboob Ali.

To recognize the contributions of research assistants, the Top Research Assistant Award was presented. In this category, first place was awarded to Md. Mithun Hossain, second place to S. M. Masfequier Rahman Swapno, and third place to Md. Shariful Islam. 

To honor the special contributions of female researchers, the Top Woman Research Contributor Award was presented to Maharin Afroj, Lecturer, Department of CSE. 

To recognize students’ research and innovative activities, the Best Student Thesis/Project Award was presented. The Gold Award was received by the CSE department project Bilingual Bangla OCR for Rural Empowerment: Detecting Handwritten Queries and Agricultural Assistance, with students Mahanur Alam, Md. Johirul Islam Tutul, and Md. Anwar Hussen Wadud. The Silver Award was received by the Economics department project The Impact of Financial System and Trade Openness on the Economic Growth of Bangladesh in the Global Arena, with student Sabiha Akter. The Bronze Award was received by the CSE department project Amanot-Net: A Resilient Framework for Proactive Threat Neutralization in Unstructured Public Spaces, with students Md. Rakibul Hasan Bijoy, Farzana Akter Mily, Jannat Ul Ferdous Joha, and Srabonty Akter. Additionally, Bronze Awards were received by the EEE department projects Solar-Powered Static and Dynamic Wireless Charging for Electric Vehicles: Towards Sustainable Mobility, with students Tarakul Islam, Hasan Masud, Sarnali Mondal Soma, and Rezwana Kaniz Ritu, and Performance Assessment of a Renewable Energy Based DC Hybrid Microgrid for Reliable and Sustainable Power Supply, with students Md. Appel Mahmud, Md. Imran Khan, and Rezwan Kabir. 

In the Students’ Research Idea Competition, held to encourage students’ innovative research ideas, students from various departments achieved distinction. First place was awarded to Md. Ariful Islam, Sanjana Afrin Oishee, and Tabiha Tabassum from the Textile Engineering department; second place to Md. Rakibul Hasan Bijoy from the Computer Science and Engineering department; third place to Abdullah Al Fahim from the Law & Justice department; fourth place to Sarmin Akter Mim and Al Masum from the English department; and fifth place to Md. Sakib Hasan from the BBA department.

In recognition of outstanding research poster presentations, the Top 5 Research Posters among All Departments awardees were Mushfiqur Rahman, Maharin Afroj, and Shrabani Das from the CSE department; Mahmudur Rahman from the Civil  department; Ashif Sheikh, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Md. Abdur Rakib, and M. Ibrahim from the EEE department; and S. M.
Riduan, Md. Rakib Khan, and Md. Rishadul Hasan, also from the EEE department. 

For selecting the best research poster from each department, the Top One Research Poster per Department awardees were Md. Rakibul Hasan Bijoy, Md. Al Imran, and Zikra from CSE; Naimur Rahaman Rifat from EEE; Tohfa Akter Moon, Maria Rahman, Md. Rayhan, and Md. Mahbub Alam Shorab from Civil; Md. Ibrahim, Aisha Siddiqe Priya, and Al Kador A Tamim from Textile; Nurshalin Islam Shifat from Law & Justice; Afrin Akter Shishir from English; Jannatul Ferdousy Supty, Md. Aminul Islam Milon, Md. Mostafijur Rahman, and Md. Shah Jalal from Accounting; Dr. Md. Aslam Uddin from Marketing; Fairuz Anjum Binte Habib from Finance; Md. Asaduzzaman from Management; and Chayan Devnath Mishu from Economics. 

Among research assistants from the Research Graduate School, the Top 5 Research Posters among Research Assistants awards were presented. First place was achieved by Rakib Hasan and Md. Sahadat Hossain Sani; second place by Md. Romzan Alom; third place by S. M. Masfequier Rahman Swapno; fourth place by Rakibul Hasan; and fifth place by Md. Anisur Rahman. 

The entire week long research week event was comprehensively overseen and managed by Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUBT and Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Dean of BUBT Research Graduate School, who ensured the smooth and successful organization of the event, promoting and advancing research and innovation at the university.
