About the Faculty

From the very inception in 2004, the Faculty of Arts & Humanities is working with BUBT’s vision of excellence in higher education with cultural and social engagements. It offers programs that balance foundational training in language and literature with advanced study in linguistics, cultural theory, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary research. Pedagogically, the Faculty embraces outcome-based education (OBE) aligned with global standards and the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF). Its curriculum emphasizes intellectual flexibility, critical reasoning, and intercultural competence, enabling students to bridge local realities with international discourses. Research, creativity, and social responsibility are at the core of its mission. Faculty members are actively engaged in academic inquiry, publications, and knowledge dissemination, while students are trained to become independent thinkers capable of producing original research. Beyond classrooms, the Faculty fosters cultural appreciation and lifelong learning through debates, seminars, literary festivals, and community initiatives. In essence, the Faculty of Arts & Humanities is not only a site of academic training but also a space of dialogue, reflection, and innovation, where tradition meets modernity, and where students are prepared to become scholars, professionals, and global citizens.

Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at BUBT. As Dean, I am proud to lead a faculty that not only offers specialized programs in English but also contributes to the intellectual foundation of the entire university through its General Education (GED) courses. Our faculty plays a central role in shaping well-rounded graduates by combining professional skills with cultural, ethical, and civic awareness.

Through GED courses in Bangla, History, Philosophy and related fields, we provide all BUBT students—regardless of their major—with the broad knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary for success in today’s world. These courses ensure that our graduates emerge not only as capable professionals but also as responsible citizens who understand their society and their role within it.

At the same time, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities is home to a large and vibrant Department of English, which offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, supported by modern facilities such as a language lab, Reading and Writing Center, and Speaking Corner. Alongside academics, platforms like the English Club and cultural activities enrich students’ learning experiences and develop their confidence, creativity, and leadership.

Our alumni are now working in diverse professions—as teachers and researchers, journalists and media professionals, administrators, bankers, executives, civil servants, NGO and development workers, and many others. Their achievements testify to the strength of the education we provide at the faculty level.
