Department of English, BUBT, organized a freshers’ reception program to receive the newly admitted students of Intake 59 of B.A. (Hons.) in English and Intake 47 of M.A. in ELT on January 14, 2024, in BUBT Cafeteria. Professor Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Prof. A.B.M. Badruddoza Miah, Controller of Examinations, Wing Commander (Retd.) Md. Momenul Islam, Proctor, BUBT, Dr. Md. Masudur Rahman, Director, Career Guidance and Counseling, Mr. Md. Sabbir Ahmad, Chairman, Department of English and the faculty members of the Department of English were present at the event.

The program started with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Professor Huq delivered the welcome note for the freshers and talked about the overall academic system of the Department of English. The Proctor, in his speech, provided guidelines for manners and disciplines on the campus. Then the Controller of the Examinations talked about the rules and regulations for examinations at the university. After that, the teachers of the department introduced themselves. Next, Miftaul Jannat Marzana, a student of Intake 58, shared her experiences with the newcomers about various aspects of the department. On behalf of the newcomers, Sohali Sanjida shared her feelings. In the meantime, the department received the new students formally and cordially with Flowers.

The first part of the program ended with the closing remarks by the chairman of the department. He thanked all the members of the organizing committee, performers, volunteers, and faculty members for making the program a success. Then the students of the department performed in a cultural program. The formal part of the program was conducted by Mr. Sheikh Md. Ashraful Alam Rony, Lecturer in English and the cultural part by Jannatul Mawa, and Umme Habiba Hasan, both Lecturers in English. The program was a great success.
