Like many other public and private universities of the country Department of Law & Justice is the only Department of the Faculty of Law at BUBT. To meet the requirements of society for becoming good lawyers, judges, academics and professionals in multi-dimensions of law, BUBT is currently offering LL. B. (Hons) and LL. M. (1Year) programs under the Faculty of Law. Both the programs have been launched here keeping the global and national predicaments of the present world in the focal point of all necessary academic and extra curriculum activities. The courses are designed in a comprehensive pattern so that students get full opportunities to enter into any relevant career with confidence. History of the Department
Department of Law &Justice at BUBT started its journey as one of its earliest departments in 2009. Initially, there were four Law Programs viz. LL. B. (Hons), LL. M. (1 Year), LL. B. (2 Year) & LL. M. (2 Year) Programs under the Faculty of Law. However, currently we are offering only LL. B. (Hons) and LL. M. (1Year) programs. The Department of Law and Justice has approximately 750 students and 1000 living alumni who have forged distinguished careers in government, public-service organizations, corporations, and law firms throughout the country. Research Group & Area
At BUBT, there is a provision for compulsory legal research for each and every law student at undergraduate level. More specifically, there are two courses on legal research viz. (i) Law-646 (Legal Research Methodology) and (ii) Law-647 (Dissertation).
In Legal Research Methodology, students are taught different arts of research viz. abstract writing, keywords, methodology, designing, referencing, sampling, etc. whereas in case of dissertation, each student will have to produce a dissertation paper comprising 6,000 – 10000 words in contemporary Legal Issues of Home and Abroad. The student, on consultation with the supervisor would choose the research topic.
