Newly-appointed Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali joined Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on Tuesday, 01 October 2024. Before joining BUBT, Professor Dr. Shawkat Ali was a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The University of Fiji.
Prof. Shawkat Ali graduated from Rajshahi University in 1990 and completed post-graduation from the same university in 1991. In 2005, he obtained Ph.D from Monash University, Australia, and since 1997 he has been serving as a teacher, researcher and administrator at various public and private universities in the country and abroad.
In Bangladesh, he was an assistant professor at Islamic University Kushtia from 1999 to 2001, and from 2014 to 2019, he worked as a visiting professor at Rajshahi University.
Besides, he served as a senior lecturer at Central Queensland University, Australia and visiting professor at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea and Kansai University, Japan.
Apart from teaching, he has earned a reputation as a computer scientist, data analyst and an author. BUBT is very happy to have this distinguished professor as the Vice-Chancellor.
