The opening and trophy unveiling ceremony of BUBT Sports Week & BUBT Deans’ Cup Cricket Tournament 2025 was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the BUBT International Conference Hall. The week-long sports festival is set to officially commence on October 11, 2025, bringing together students, faculty members, officers, and staff from across the university for a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUBT, as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline, respect, and fair play during the games, highlighting that true sportsmanship lies not only in winning but also in teamwork, respect, and integrity.
Mr. Md. Shihab Rizwan, Member of the BUBT Trust and Advisor of the BUBT Trust Career Guidance and Sports Advisory Committee, attended the event as Special Guest and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he appreciated the initiative of organizing such an inclusive sports event that promotes a healthy lifestyle and strengthens the university community spirit.
Among other distinguished guests were Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Member of the BUBT Trust, who praised the efforts of the BUBT Sports Club for arranging the event successfully and encouraged students to take part actively in co-curricular activities to complement their academic growth.
Prof. Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chief Moderator of the BUBT Sports Club, also spoke on the occasion, expressing his joy over the active participation of students and faculty members. He noted that sports play a crucial role in building leadership, teamwork, and resilience among young learners.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Munshi Mahbubur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, shared their remarks, encouraging participants to uphold the spirit of healthy competition and unity throughout the tournament.
The BUBT Sports Week & BUBT Deans’ Cup Cricket Tournament 2025 features a series of exciting sports events, including cricket and other indoor and outdoor games, with active participation from all sections of the BUBT community. The event is being organized under the overall supervision of the BUBT Sports Club, which expressed gratitude to the university administration and the BUBT Trust for their continued support in promoting sports and physical well-being among students.
