The Career Guidance Office (CGO) of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a seminar on History of a Successful Entrepreneur: Late Major General Amjad Khan Chowdhury (Retd.), Founder of PRAN-RFL Group on Sunday, January 13, 2019 in the International Conference Hall of BUBT Permanent Campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka. Selected students from all departments attended the seminar and the seminar focused on necessary aspects of entrepreneurship.
Mr. Mohamed Kaisar Haq, Director, International Partnership, PRAN-RFL Group conducted the seminar as the Keynote Speaker while Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT presided over and Prof. Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust was present as the Chief Guest. Mr. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Advisor, Career Guidance Office, BUBT delivered the welcome speech.
The Keynote Speaker presented the secrets and principles of entrepreneurship setting PRAN-RFL’s Founder as an example. He described that entrepreneurship is not just a job of owning a business; it could be teaching in a school, doing social works in a village or becoming a politician for the country etc. It also includes leading other’s initiatives as well. He said that entrepreneurs must have a clear concept with a thoughtful purpose, if he wants to chase the success. He also suggested not getting along with fear of failure. Failure is opposite to the success. It may come out as a result, but it cannot prevent entrepreneurs from testing their ideas which are in calculative risks.

Self-assessment Committees of the department of Business, CSE, EEE and English of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) have recently organized two different workshops on self-assessment at the International Conference Hall of the University campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka.
On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, the Department of Business Administration organized its workshop on Completion of Self-assessment Process & Implementation of PSAIP where Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Accreditation Council of Bangladesh spoke as the Chief Guest. He was grateful to see BUBT’s self-assessment report and recommendations to be implemented here. He suggested that BUBT should continue spending money on ground level survey to know the gap between reality and expectations. This university is great, but there is a chance to become much better and it needs to give the best, it also has to make itself ideal. He believed that there is no replacement of the quality in higher education in Bangladesh. Mr. Ahmed thinks, M. Phil programs should be approved by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), if universities have adequate resources to provide such degrees. After inauguration, He also conducted a session on Challenges of the Implementation of Post Self-assessment Improvement Plan (PSAIP).

Earlier on Monday, December 24, 2018, the other workshop on Post Self-assessment Improvement Plan was jointly organized by the Self-assessment Committee of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Department of English. The Vice Chancellor of BUBT graced the workshop as the Chief Guest while Director of Research was the Guest of Honor; Treasurer, and Academic Affairs Advisor Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman were present as the Special Guests.
Mr. M. Azharul Haque, Chairman, Dept. of EEE delivered the Welcome Speech along with the presentation of EEE’s SAC. Other two presentations on PSAIP were presented by Mr. M.M. Fazle Rabbi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of CSE and Mr. Md. Sabbir Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Dept. of English.

BUBT team wins mock parliamentary debate on Tax Management
Debate for Democracy hosted a mock parliamentary debate on Tax Management on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Hall room of Bangaladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) where Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) became the winner. The runner up team’s name was Islamic University. The Chief Guest of the Program was Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, NDC, Chairman, National Board of Revenue, Bangladesh (NBR). Participants received crests and certificates from the Chief Guest. At this time, the Chief Guest said that Government tries to influence people to pay taxes rather than force. He also informed “We can see more transparency, if our automation project of tax management comes to an end”. “I want to assure you that we will take actions against those who are irritating country’s tax payers.” he added.
The members of the winner team were CSE student Tanzila AHmed Pinky (Prime Minister); English student Shrimoti Kirttonia (Minister) and Law student Shamima Nasrin Shanta (Member). The program was presided over by the Mr. Hasan Ahmed Chowdhury Kiron, Chairman, Debate for Democracy. The jury was formed by the Journalist Sajjad Alam Khan, Professor Abu Muhammad Rais, Journalist Dawlat Akter Mala, Development Communication Expert Dr. S. M. Morshed and Senior Info. Officer of NBR Syed A. Mumen. Mr. Md. Sabbir Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Dept. of English with BUBT students was present as the mentor of BUBT Debating Club.
Handicraft Online Startup D.H.S. 3.0 Won the BUBT round of Hult Prize 2018
The Business Club of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) hosted the Hult Prize 2018’s BUBT session on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the University’s International Conference Hall, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka.
The ‘D.H.S. 3.0’ team with the idea of selling disabled people’s handicrafts online became the winner defeating ‘Thinkers’ and ‘Build Eco’ teams in the final round and secured the chance to go to Malaysia for Asia roundchase for 1 million USD prize.The D.H.S 3.0’s heroes are Md. Hasibur Rahman, Ashikur Rahman and Taibuzzaman. All are the BBA (Marketing) 39th Intake students of BUBT. A total of 41 teams were participated in the hunt in BUBT.

The Chief Guest of the program was prominent Freedom Fighter Brigadier General (Retired) Geias Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Bir Bikrom, PSC, MDS while Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trustattended as the Special Guest. Mr. A F M Sarwar Kamal, Former Chairman of BUBT Trustalso was present as a guest of honor. Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT presided over the function. The Chief Guest Mr. Geias Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury venerated the picture of the battlefield of the Rajshahi during the Liberation War in 1971 and elaborated the role of the freedom fighters showing some visual documents. He advised, “Young group should not get frustratedif they want to move the country forward. And everybody should respect Bangabandhu as he was the main icon of ourLiberation War. It is not mandatory to be affiliated with the politics of BangladeshAwami League to show the respect, and it may bemore tactful if we can stop politics in the name of him.”
Mr. Chowdhury received a crest and a gold medal from the BUBT Trust Chair for his heroism in the Liberation War. Respected Treasurer, Deans of all faculties, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Directors, Joint Registrar, Proctor, Chairmen of all departments, faculty members, officials and a large number of students of BUBT were present in the event. Mr. Md. Sabbir Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Department of English anchored the program.

December 15, 2018: The Prize giving ceremony of the 5 day long (Dec. 8 to Dec.12) Talent Hunt 2018 was organized by the Cultural Club of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Main Campus of the university, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka. Prominent TV actor Mr. Kochi Khondokar awarded winners of the Talent Hunt competition as the Special Guest.

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed the Martyred Intellectuals Day-2018 with a procession on Friday morning, December 14, 2018, to commemorate those intellectuals who were killed systematically by the Pakistan occupation army and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country's Liberation War in 1971.

Workshop on ‘Post EPR-Draft Improvement Plan’ by Department of Economics, BUBT
The SA-Committee of Economics Department of BUBT had organized its sixth workshop on Post EPR-Draft Improvement Plan at 25th November, 2018 in the permanent campus of BUBT. At this workshop the Chief Guest was Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT. The special guests were Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer, BUBT, Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Academic Advisor, Student Affairs, BUBT, Prof. Shanti Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC-BUBT and Director, BUBT Research Centre and Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, BUBT. Dr. Mohammed Ziaul Haider, Professor, Department of Economics, Khulna University was the key discussant of the workshop. All the guests expressed their views on the Draft Improvement Plan of SAC-Economics, BUBT.
The keynote was jointly presented by the members of SAC-Economics, BUBT in three consecutive technical sessions. The second member of SAC-Economics Mr. Tareq Imam Zahid, lecturer in Economics had presented the main targets and possible interventions of nine quality assessment areas in technical session one. The first member of SAC-Economics Mahmuda Jahan Papia, Assistant Professor of Economics had presented the possible financial requirements and performance indicators about the future improvement of the department. In technical session three the Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head of the SAC-Economics had presented the possible roadblocks and how to overcome such roadblocks in nine QA areas. The discussant provided necessary suggestions and recommendations for further improvement. The workshop was presided over by the Sirajul Islam, Chairman of Economics, BUBT.
