-Distinguished Fellow of CPD Dr. Mustafizur Rahman at BUBT’s Economic Dept’s Seminar

May 07, 2018, Dhaka: Department of Economics of Bangladesh University of Business & Technology (BUBT) organized a seminar on “Moving Out of the LDCs: Strategies for Sustainable Graduation” on Monday, May 07, 2018 at International Conference Hall of the University Permanent Campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), was the Chief Guest & Keynote Speaker of the Seminar. He said in his speech that, we should keep Sustainability and Inclusiveness in our development process to have the real taste of the transition from Least Developing Country to Middle Income Country. He also said, there are challenges, added to this transition, such as increasing of tariff and interest rates of credits.  We can face those challenges successfully if we go with economic diversification and if we can take care of the labor displace risk due to global technological development. He also mentioned that too much indirect tax is not expected, it is not good for lower income people of the country. He commented that, while answering questions, to keep free flow of the development, our economy expects political stability at any cost, but political change is not stability, it is the sustainability of the economic policy.

Prof. Md Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT was the Special Guest. And Mr. A F M Sarwar Kamal, Member & Former Chairman of BUBT Trust, was present as the Session Chair.

An Agreement was signed between Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) and Babylon Group on Tuesday, May 08, 2018 at the University Campus, Mirpur, Dhaka regarding academic cooperation, skill development and career opportunities.

Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT and Dr. Md. Hasan, Executive Director, Babylon Group signed the paper on behalf of their respective parties. Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Chairman, Dept. of Textile & Dean, Faculty of Science; Dr. Md. Harun-or-Rashid, Registrar, Mr. A.H.M. Azmal Hossain, Joint Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Director, Career Guidance, Mr. Jisan Al Jubair, Asst. Registrar (Public Relations), BUBT were present as part of BUBT. Mr. Md. Atikul Islam Apu, Manager (HR), Babylon Group was also present in the signing ceremony.

The objective of the initiative was taking note of the commitment of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) and Babylon Group for accelerating academic cooperation, skill development and career opportunities through developing human resources in Bangladesh by imparting professional skills in a variety of fields, including internship placement, job placement and organizing different skills development initiatives i.e. workshop, seminar etc. Babylon has strong footing in both knit and woven products.

The Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of Law & Justice of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a workshop on ‘Sharing the Survey Results’ on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Law Lab Room of Permanent Campus of the University, Rupnagar, Mirpur, Dhaka.

Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT was the Chief Guest of the Workshop. Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Treasurer, BUBT; Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT and Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC were present as special guests.

Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Head of SAC-Law & Dean, Faculty of Law, BUBT was the Session Chair of  the workshop.

The Department of Economics has arranged the farewell program for the students of 17^th, 18^th and 19^th intakes of B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics and EDE programs on 28^th February, 2018 at hall room, permanent campus,BUBT. The program was chaired by the Chairman of the department Mr. Sirajul Islam. The Chief Guest of the program was Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice-Chancellor, BUBT. The Special Guests of the Program were Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor and Chief Coordinator of Extra-Curriculum activities and Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, BUBT. A stunning cultural program was arranged on that occasion.

The Self-Assessment Committee of Economics Department has arranged the Workshop on Result Sharing of Self-Assessment Report on 05^th April, 2018 at room number 702, permanent campus, BUBT. The program was chaired by Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics, BUBT and Chairman, Department of Economics, BUBT. The Chief Guest of the program was Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice-Chancellor, BUBT. The Special Guests of the Program were Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor and Chief Coordinator of Extra-Curriculum activities, Prof. Md. Enayet Hossain Mia, Treasurer, BUBT, Prof. Shanti Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC, BUBT and BUBT research center, and Prof. Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business. The key note was presented by Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics, BUBT and Chairman, Department of Economics, BUBT Mr. Sirajul Islam, Head, SAC-Economics, BUBT and Chairman, Department of Economics, BUBT. The workshop was two technical sessions in first session the result of the SAR was presented. In session two the SWOT analysis and focus group study on different issues of SAR report took place.

The Self-Assessment Committee (SAC) of the Department of English of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized the second workshop entitled “Exchanging Ideas of Survey Results” under the Higher Education Quality Enhance Project (HEQEP) of the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. The workshop was held in the Conference Room of the Department of English in the Permanent Campus of BUBT. After the recitation from the Holy Qur’an, the Program Chair, Professor Syed Anwarul Huq, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities welcomed everyone present at the workshop. He thanked all concerned regarding the survey and appreciated the importance of the proposed survey. Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of BUBT graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Appreciating the noble mission of BUBT he said, “it is time to identify the deficiency and deviation through the survey results and to overcome them with our joint efforts.” Professor Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director, IQAC, BUBT, and Professor Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT delivered speeches at the ceremony as Special Guests. Professor Rahman urged all to take the survey result seriously while Professor Ghosh elaborately discussed the methodology of the survey, referring to a book named Successful Survey by George Gray. Mr. S. M. Woahid Murad, the Facilitator of the workshop, shared the survey results with the faculty members of the entity.  The first session of the workshop ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. Sabbir Ahmed, Member, SAC, Dept. of English, BUBT. The workshop was actively participated by all the faculty members of the department and continued with other two sessions. Mr. Md. Ashraful Alam Rony and Ms. Tahseen Humayra, both Lecturers of Dept. of English, BUBT anchored the program.

April 11, 2018, BUBT, Dhaka:

Sexual Harassment using Digital Platform, apparently, has increased today and we can prevent this harassment by only thinning out social awareness.  Speakers and Analyzers said in a Seminar on Wednesday Afternoon, April 11, 2018. The Department of Law & Justice of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized this Seminar on “Violence against Women and Sexual Harassment in Working Place: A Legal and Socio-Economic Analysis” at the Hall Room of the University’s Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Permanent Campus.

Speakers also said that the violence against Women and sexual harassment at work have increased day by day. Women workers are being the victim by their office “Boss” or the colleagues. Beside this outlook, we can see, Men are also being the victim of Sexual Harassment and Violence but they cannot speak up, because they are ‘Man’ socially.

Mr. Raquibul Haque Miah, Legal Adviser, Bangladesh, International Air Transport Association (IATA), Canada, was the Chief Guest of the Seminar. He said that Women are changing our country’s economy to a vigorous point, but the change makers are not secured. This is totally unacceptable. We should make our workplaces secured for Women by setting up CCTVs in every corner of the workplaces. If we fail to do that, Women might not go out and, eventually, our economy’s growth rate might fall down.  He suggested that Women should inform police immediately when they face challenges on the road, office, Campus and everywhere.   

Ms. Rowshan Ara, Project Director, Naripokkho and Ms. Selina Ahmed, Executive Director, Acid Survivors Foundation were the Guest Speakers.

The Project Director of Naripokkho Ms. Rowshan Ara, said in her speech that, Sexual Harassment on the Internet is now in a cautionary level. In her opinion, the irritation is not occurred only by touching, it also can be possible on the internet and the pornography is the last weapon of this harassment and violence. She advised our sons to learn how to use digital devices safely and how to be safe on the internet.

Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT was the Special Guest. Dr. Syed Sarfaraj Hamid, Dean, Faculty of Law presided over the Seminar. Ms. Falguni Mozammel, Assistant Professor, Department of Law & Justice was present as the Convener of the Seminar. The Alumni Association of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized its first Carnival on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the University Permanent Campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur, Dhaka with fun and happiness. Huge number of Alumni was actively participated in the Ceremony.

As the Chief Guest, Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Patron, BUBTAA and Vice Chancellor, BUBT inaugurated the ceremony at 11: 30 am. Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT and Dr. Md. Harun-Or-Rashid, Registrar, BUBT were present as Special Guests. Mr. A H M Azmal Hossain, President, BUBT Alumni Association (BUBTAA) presided over the ceremony. Mr. Ashraful Islam Chowdhury, General Secretary, BUBTAA delivered the welcome speech.

“Smaranik”, the 1st Souvenir of the BUBTAA, and the website of BUBTAA (www.bubtaa.org) was uncovered/ launched by the Vice Chancellor of the University on the occasion. At the Evening, games, raffle draw and a cultural session in association with BUBT Cultural Club were organized at the carnival, 2018.

The Career Guidance Office of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) and the PRAN-RFL Group jointly organized the ‘BUBT PRAN-RFL Job Fair, 2018’ on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the University Permanent Campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur, Dhaka.  Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT inaugurated the Fair at 11 am. Where, graduate students got experiences on career and about the future life. A Walk-In-Interview session were took place during the Job Fair for the graduates.

Mr. Md. Kaysarul Haque, Director, International Partnership, PRAN-RFL Group was the Chief Guest of the event. Professor Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust; Professor Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Tresurer, BUBT and Prof. Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT were present as Special Guests.

A seminar on ‘Challenges for Freshers’ in the Present Job Market’ also organized on occasion at Afternoon. Speakers at the seminar gave students valuable advice about career and success in life. Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor of BUBT was the Session Chair of the Seminar. Mr. Md. Zaber Al Rahad Khan, Senior Manager, HRM, PRAN-RFL Group, presented the Key Note Paper.

Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean, Faculty of Business was the chief coordinator of the Fair while A H M Azmal Hossain, President, BUBT Alumni Association & Joint Registrar, BUBT and Mr. Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Director (Acting), Career Guidance, BUBT were present as special coordinators.

The students of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) celebrated the Bengali New Year, 1425 with Boishakh Fair and a joyous Bengal Concert on Tuesday at the University Permanent Campus, Rupnagar, Mirpur-2, Dhaka. Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT inaugurated the ceremony at 10 am before visiting the stales of traditional Products by the students.

BUBT Observes 25^th March Genocide Day

Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed the 25th March Genocide Day elaborately. On the occasion, the University organized a reminisce program entitled ‘25^th March Genocide Day Remembrance and Discussion’ on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the University Hall Room, Rupnagar, Dhaka.

Mr. Md. Safiqueullah, DIG (retd) and Sub Sector Commander, Sector No. 11, reminisces the horrible night when people were killed by Pakistan Army. He said that the genocide in Bangladesh began on 25 March Dawn in 1971 with the launch of Operation Searchlight, as West Pakistan began a military crackdown on the Eastern wing of the nation to suppress Bengali calls for self-determination rights.

Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chancellor, BUBT presided over the program while Prof Md. Enayet Hossain Miah, Tresurer, BUBT and Prof Mian Lutfar Rahman, Proctor, BUBT were Special Guests. Prof. Syed Anwarul Huq Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities and of Social Sciences, BUBT, delivered the Welcome Speech. Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed Independence Day-2018 with the participation in national program by singing the national anthem “Amar Sonar Bangla,” written by Rabindranath Tagore, in correct form at 8am on Monday across the country and Bangladesh missions abroad on the Independence Day. On the occasion, the University also organized Discussion and cultural program at 10: am, March 26, 2018 at the University Hall Room, Rupnagar, Dhaka.

Physician, freedom fighter and Cultural worker Dr. Sarwar Ali, Trustee, Muktijuddho Jadughor, described the Independence Day elaborately in sharing his experiences as the Chief Guest. He said that, whole nation had taken part in the War in 1971 to achieve freedom. Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, Chairman, BUBT Trust and Mr. A F M Sarwar Kamal, Member and Ex Chairmen of BUBT Trust, were present as Special Guests.
